On Halloween night, an old hunter named Coleman follows an antlered figure through the dark. In its hand: a weathered black sack.

What is inside the sack?
Spores sweep through a small town. After three nights of sleep, the infected become part of the mycelium. With his home lost and one bullet left, Coleman tracks a figure with antlers like dead branches. White mycelium grows in its wake. Legend says the black sack holds its only weakness.

The secret in the sack leads to a memory of a father, a daughter, and a Halloween promise left unfulfilled. Coleman lowers his gun, lights a jack-o’-lantern and speaks the long-forgotten words: trick or treat. The encounter takes an unexpected turn.
